Key information:

• Prepare food, including any special diets needed, and feeding the animals
• Clean out and disinfect the living and sleeping areas and changing the bedding
• Look after sick animals and calling the vet if needed
• Maintain and monitor animal records, taking bookings, dealing with payments and handling enquiries
• Groom animals and making sure they are clean
