Locum Prison GP

We’re inviting skilled Locum GPs to join a dedicated secure healthcare team in Bedford, delivering flexible, high-quality primary care to an often under served patient group. This role offers an excellent chance to make a genuine difference within a structured, well-supported clinical environment. You’ll manage a diverse caseload, working closely with experienced colleagues across clinical and security teams to deliver compassionate, person centred care while maintaining high standards of safety and governance.

Key details:

• 3 days per week
• Prison healthcare service
• Flexible, well-structured sessions
• Provide holistic face-to-face clinics
• Carry out segregation reviews and maintain robust documentation
• Work proactively with colleagues across clinical and security teams
• Weekly payments and easy-to-use timesheet system
• Support for fast-tracked clearance
• Free parking and full consultant assistance

Requirements

• GMC registered with full licence to practise
• Prison clearance (essential fast-track support available)
• Experience in primary care, urgent care, or secure environments advantageous
