Consultant Psychiatrist

We are seeking a committed and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join an established mental health provider in Manchester, supporting both Acute and Rehabilitation Psychiatry services. As a Psychiatrist, you will assess, diagnose, and treat adults with a range of complex mental health conditions. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team (MDT), you’ll provide holistic, person‑centred care and play a key role in service development.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead acute and rehab ward rounds, risk reviews, and strategic planning meetings.
• Provide expert psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and care planning.
• Act as the Responsible Clinician (RC) under the Mental Health Act 1983.
• Oversee referrals, admissions, and pre‑admission assessments.
• Deliver leadership and supervision to the MDT.
• Foster a safe, therapeutic, and recovery‑orientated environment.
• Contribute to continuous quality improvement and clinical governance.

Requirements

• Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
• Completed higher specialist training in psychiatry (CCT or CESR equivalent).
• Eligibility to act as a Responsible Clinician under the MHA 1983.
• Demonstrable experience as a Consultant Psychiatrist in acute or rehabilitation settings.
