Consultant Psychiatrist (Part Time)

We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join a well-established mental health service in Shirley on a part‑time basis. This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced psychiatrist who enjoys clinical leadership, complex case work, and flexible working within a supportive team environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team, including junior medical staff and allied professionals.
• Act as Responsible Clinician for a small number of in patients, overseeing their care under the Mental Health Act.
• Undertake comprehensive psychiatric assessments of new referrals and formulate evidence based treatment plans.
• Participate in on‑call rota to support inpatient and community services.
• Contribute to risk management, case discussions, and clinical governance activities.
• Support service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC.
• Evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT, or within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview, or eligibility for CESR (Specialist Registration).
• MRCPsych or equivalent.
• Demonstrable experience in adult psychiatry, including inpatient and community settings.
