Psychiatry Consultant

This role provides an outstanding opportunity for a Psychiatry Consultant seeking flexible, structured medico-legal work within a leading nationwide service. You will undertake detailed psychiatric assessments for small-claim cases, providing impartial, clinically sound evaluations that support legal and insurance processes. Assessments are conducted remotely and onsite across Greater Manchester, typically lasting 45–90 minutes, within an established clinical governance framework.

In addition to clinical autonomy, the role offers:

• £250 per completed assessment

• Combining remote assessments with onsite clinics

• Control over your own schedule to fit around NHS or private commitments

• Reliable referral volumes and standardised assessment formats

• Administrative support, including report templates and case coordination

• Robust clinical governance and quality assurance, this makes the position ideal for Consultants wishing to diversify their practice and engage in structured medico-legal work.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct psychiatric assessments

• Prepare structured medico-legal reports

• Provide evidence-based, impartial clinical opinions

Requirements:

• GMC Specialist Register (mandatory)

• Strong psychiatric assessment & report-writing skills

• Excellent clinical judgement and reliability
